A History of So-and-Sos

A History of So-and-Sos

A History of So and Sos is a not-so-historical comedy show, devised collaboratively as an ensemble through improvisation and play. The story follows a group of time travelling archaeology students who attempt to interview famous people from the past – but when things go wrong, they find that the everyday people often have a more interesting story to tell. The show is a camp, lighthearted celebration of the people that never made the textbooks, and an exploration of the bias behind who exactly gets remembered and how.

A 10-minute extract of the show was previously shown at a scratch event at Rose Bruford’s Symposium Festival in 2025. The extract saw the team exploring Victorian London on the hunt for Arthur Conan Doyle, eventually interviewing a local pie-seller, Arthur Doyle, instead. We are currently working on opportunities to develop this into a full length show.
